Hypertherm designed a break away mount years ago but never Patented it.
That's not unusual but allows others to take the design and manufacture the item as their own. Especially if that person lives in another country. This same person once cried about others taking his design over the grates on the plasmacam and selling the plans? Except this person didn't Patent his grate idea so it is open to anyone to take it and run. Exactly what he did with Hypertherm idea. Plus it helped that he had a insider from Hypertherm on his side. If you look deeper you might figure out that the insider actually talked the out of country person to manufacture this torch mount that has magnets and if it contacts raised metal it disconnects and save the torch tip.
Only thing is the torch continues to fire which is bad for the tip, possibly burning the tip out.
If you learn Height Control, you won't need this mount as the torch flows with the metal even if it's raised.
There is a new product that blows the Snap n cut away as it shuts your machine off and shuts the torch off!
It's also Made in USA!
The Snap n Cut sells overseas or he says his American supplier in NH, is the Hypertherm insider we all know and trust! If I owned a company he worked for I wouldn't trust him, but that's just me!
This new system is: http://m.plasmatorchprotectionsystem.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fplasmatorchprotectionsystem.com%2F&dm_redirected=true
You'll love this as you can actually walk away from your table as it shuts everything off!
Not like the Snap n cut which continues to allow torch to fire until you return, this plasma torch protection system has shut it all off safely!
I would say that if I had it to do over, I would have stayed with the Hand torch.
By converting to machine torch was a waste of money, and then adding the Snap n cut was a bigger waste!
I own the gotorch and kept the hand torch.
Put your money on something else than a machine torch and snap n cut,
If it was such a good idea then Plasmacam would be using the Machine torch and making their own snap n cut as it's not patented!
Even this new grate system, if it was better they would switch, but they still build it the way it's been built for years.
